PeriCatch is a physician-built clinical decision support tool that maps patient symptoms and menstrual history to the STRAW+10 staging criteria, the international gold standard for characterizing reproductive aging. It identifies undertreated perimenopause and menopause presentations, surfaces treatment options grounded in TMS and ACOG guidelines for clinician review, and generates structured documentation for the electronic health record.
An estimated 85% of women experience vasomotor symptoms during the menopausal transition, yet studies consistently show that the vast majority of eligible women remain untreated or undertreated. A 2019 survey found that 81% of physicians-in-training reported limited menopause training, and 50% reported low comfort with managing menopause symptoms (TMS Clinician's Guide, 6th Ed., Ch. 3).
The result: patients are either overtreated by those who lack clinical rigor, or undertreated by those who lack confidence. PeriCatch was built to close that gap with evidence, not hype.
PeriCatch is clinical decision support, not a wellness quiz and not a prescribing engine. It applies the STRAW+10 staging criteria computationally, mapping menstrual patterns and symptoms to recognized reproductive aging stages. Treatment eligibility is determined by published guidelines from The Menopause Society, with every clinical decision rule traceable to a named, peer-reviewed source. The tool generates SOAP notes and ICD-10 codes for seamless EHR documentation. All processing occurs client-side. Nothing is stored, transmitted, or shared.
Does not prescribe medications. Does not diagnose. Does not replace clinical judgment. Does not store patient data. Does not use a validated symptom severity scale (the PeriCatch Symptom Burden Index is a custom heuristic, explicitly labeled as such).
